About Us

Ashley Dodt really understands every aspect of his business Irrigear Lowood, because he worked in just about every role while his dad Garry was running the operation.

Ashley joined Lowood Irrigation straight out of high school and started off working in the field, assisting in repairs and installations before moving into sales and design and now running the business, with his dad still working behind the scenes. “Dad started the business as Lowood Irrigation in 1994 because he could see that the area needed some home irrigation support. We became a Davey master dealer not long after the doors opened and have been a premium master dealer since the program began. We are also a longstanding member of the Irrigear group, and in 2016 we decided to change our business name to Irrigear Lowood for increased brand awareness. “From the start, we’ve focused mainly on the rural domestic market. A lot of residents in the area don’t have access to reticulated water so the region really relies heavily on pressure pumps. They need quality brands to keep water flowing to the house, and that’s why we have always stuck with Davey. We like to sell things we know don’t get come backs. We choose products we know are going to perform and last.” About 15 years ago, growth in the business led Ashley and Garry to move to bigger premises, where they were able to increase their range on display, and added Husqvarna outdoor power equipment to their offering in 2018.

“I believe our good reputation allowed us to expand."

"Service has always been a big part of what we do and we try to do it as well as we can. It’s been a bit of a balancing act because while we have been happy to grow the business, we want to be able to continue to offer the kind of personalised service our customers enjoy. We offer a loan pump service during repairs, do on-site servicing, and aim for same day assistance so people are not left without water. Our customers have the confidence that no matter what they need, we’ll always do our best to help them.” When Ashley first joined the business there were two or three staff, and today there are 15 to service the local area. Community is important to Ashley and his team, with the business sponsoring a range of local sports and service clubs, school raffles and more. “We just like to help out,” Ashley says. When he’s not working, Ashley is still pretty keen on pumps – his hobby is collecting and restoring old Davey pumps. “The oldest so far is 50 years plus,” he says. “We get them from customers or sometimes I’ll find them on the internet. I do them up and put them on display. I’m always on the lookout for more!”
