Looking after their community into the future

During the fires that ripped through the Mid North Coast region of NSW late last year, many village fire stations could have done with an extra hand, or pump.

The local town of Bobin was just one of the communities in the area hardest hit, with many locals losing homes, properties and important infrastructure including pumping equipment in the inferno.

With so much lost around them, the Taree Lions Club approached their local Davey Master Dealer, Manning Valley Pumps & Irrigation to see how they could best help their community to rebuild and be prepared for the future.

Ten 5155H Davey Firefighter pumps were donated by Davey and Manning Valley Pumps & Irrigation, to be fitted to specially built firefighting trailers. These trailers will supply the extra water needed by brigades when out protecting the community.

The Davey pumps are extremely versatile, fitted with a 36m hose that can send water out across a 50m diameter and then switched over to suck up water from a dam or creek as needed. The trailers have a capacity of 1,000 litres and can be refilled in around five minutes.

Although people are still struggling to get their lives back on track, it’s good to know there are extra resources now to help protect them in the future. Community is everything and Lions Club Taree sure know how to look after their own.
